Outreach Programme
The students are helped to organize themselves for better, by making them aware of their social responsibility thereby gaining deep insight into the society. To realize these higher values, students were taken for a week’s Service Learning Programme to Olaipadi Villlage, Vettavalam, Tiruvannamalai District from 1 st November to 5 th November 2015. 23 students from LICET accompanied by 2 NSS Programme Officers, Dr C.S.A. Raj and Mr B. Arul Selvam were part of the camp. The village has been adopted by the college to serve the marginalized people living there.
The Service Learning Programme attempted to provide social consciousness among the students. It also remained an eye-opener for the students as they moved with the people who are deprived of the basic needs. The students also had a wonderful opportunity of meeting the people of the village, interacting and understanding the life of the people in such a backward place. This new learning experience at the village enabled them to understand the social problems better, whatever they have read and learnt from other sources. This experience has also taught them to connect with the society and to have a better understanding of life as the need of the hour is not self-aggrandizement but to serve the needy.
