WOMEN CELL ACTIVITIES IN OUR COLLEGE
The college has a Women Cell which takes care of all the issues and problems related to girl students. Started in Aug 2010, the cell is lead by a Dean of Women Students, Dean of studies, 2 lady staff members and an advocate.
Dress Code:
- Churidars /Salwar kameez must be worn on Mondays.
- Dupatta neatly pinned on both sides is mandatory on all days.
- Below-knee kurthi tops with decent full-length pants are allowed on other days of the week.
- Leggings are allowed only for long tops without slits.
- T-shirts, short tops, skirts, folded pants, 3/4th pants, torn trousers, and sleeveless dresses are not allowed.
- Hair coloring is strictly not allowed; free hairstyles are not allowed.

THE VARIOUS ACTIVITIES OF WOMEN CELL IN OUR COLLEGE ARE:
- To inform the girl students as well as their parents about the policy and the procedures against harassment, ragging etc.
- To give enough precautions to the girl students regarding various problems they may face.
- To approach the Grievance cell at any time for any help.
- To keep a watchful eye on the girl students for their safety and security.
- To check the discipline of the girl students in the college including dress code.
- To conduct various activities during Women’s day.
- To motivate the students in their overall formation.
- To organize seminars on Women’s safety, Hygiene etc.
- A forum for women students “SHE – See Her Empowered” was inaugurated on 13th August 2019. The objective of SHE is to empower women students and to encourage them discover themselves and to bloom where they are planted.
Recent Events
Awareness Programme on the Kaaval Uthavi mobile application - 29th Nov 2025
The SHE Forum of LICET conducted an Awareness Programme on the Kaaval Uthavi App on 29 November 2025 for all first-year students, coordinated by Dr. G. Kavitha, Dean of Women Students, as per the DOTE circular dated 23.11.2025. Held simultaneously in G01 and F11, the sessions were led by Lt. H. Bemesha Smitha and Dr. Gopalakrishnan, who explained the app’s emergency alert features, real-time location sharing, and safety practices. Prizes were also distributed for the Poster Exhibit held on 25.11.2025. A total of 377 students installed the Kaaval Uthavi App and gained practical understanding of its use, enhancing their awareness of personal safety and digital responsibility.
Eleftheria Exhibit – Poster Competition & Expo on “End Digital Violence Against Women” - 25th Nov 2025
The SHE Forum of LICET, led by Dr. G. Kavitha, Dean of Women, organized the Eleftheria Exhibit on 25 November 2025 to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Featuring 41 student-created posters on the theme “End Digital Violence Against Women,” the exhibit aimed to raise awareness on safe and responsible digital practices. A Digital Safety Awareness Video was screened, complementing the visual messages displayed in the lobby. The posters were evaluated by Ms. Nirmala Santiago, IQAC Coordinator, who selected three winners and two special mentions for their creativity, clarity, and impactful presentation. The event saw active participation from faculty, officials, and students, and successfully served as a meaningful platform for reflection, learning, and advocacy for safer digital spaces.
Empowering Girls Against Vulnerabilities - 29th October 2025
The SHE Forum organized an Awareness Session on “Empowering Girls Against Vulnerabilities” on 29th October 2025 for the first-year girl students, convened by Dr. G. Kavitha, Dean of Women Students. The session aimed to empower young women by enhancing their awareness of personal safety, self-confidence, emotional resilience, and coping strategies.
Dr. Abinaya Arasu delivered an insightful and interactive talk on the various types of vulnerabilities and effective ways to face challenges with courage and confidence. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and concluded with an inspiring message on self-awareness and empowerment.
Teachers’ Day Celebration - 04.09.2025
A pre-celebration of Teachers’ Day was organised on 4th September 2025 by the Dean of Women Students, Dr. G. Kavitha, to honour the invaluable contributions of teachers in shaping future citizens. The programme was marked by heartfelt expressions of gratitude and admiration from the student community, along with messages of appreciation from the institution’s leadership. The occasion concluded on a warm and memorable note, reflecting deep respect and appreciation for the teaching fraternity.
