Inauguration
The IEEE Photonics Society was inaugurated on 14/11/23 & A talk on “Empowering Change and Inspiring Leadership” was delivered by the Chief Guest: Dr. T. D. Subash Elected Member, Board of Governors, IEEE Photonics Society, USA. He introduced the spectrum of opportunities created by IEEE for student members to shine in their core branch of study and the possible international collaborations. It was an eye-opener to the students on the activities that can be conducted under the banner of IEEE and a special mention was made to advance Women in Technology through IEEE WIE (Women in Engineering).

Guest Lecture

IEEE Student Branch of LICET in association with the ECE department organised a Guest Lecture on “Revolutionizing Industries with Robotics and IoT” on 04/01/2024. Mr.Krishna Kumar, PALS Champion, renowned professor and pioneer of Automotive R&D and Mr.Shivakumar, Managing DIrector, MEL Systems & Services Ltd., Shared their knowledge and experience from industries to students. Students from II year attended the session along with faculty members. The questionnaire session was very interactive and the Guest Lecture was well received by the Students raising their curiosity.
The Department of ECE (LICET) in association with the IEEE Student Branch and IIEEE Photonics society organised a guest lecture on “Advancing Technology and Innovation to Empower Artisanal Deep Sea Fishers” on 03/03/2025. The distinguished Guest Speakers Mr. Vincent Joseph, Chairman and HOD of R&D Centre for Rural Innovation and Technology Development, Founder Chair ADSF SIGHT and Guest of Honor Mr. Bino J, Chair IEEE ADSF SIGHT Madras Section .emphasized on the importance of safety technologies for deep sea fishers. They explained about the deep sea project implementations. He also summarized the roles and opportunities for IEEE members in SIGHT, Sea Voyage for student members and other competitions. The event was truly inspiring, interactive and thought provoking.

Workshop
The Department of ECE in Association with LICET IEEE Student Branch – IEEE Photonics Society, MAS Section conducted a three day IEEE workshop on Advancements in Photonics and Optical Networks from 02.05.2024 to 04.05.2024. Faculties from various institutions participated in the event.

Space Day
IEEE Student Branch LICET in association with Institution Innovation Council [LICET] celebrated National Space Day by conducting Space Ideathon Competition on 23/08/24

IEEE Technexus
IEEE Technexus is an esteemed inter-college technical event held on 29th October 2024 in LICET. Technexus brings together young minds from different educational institutions to showcase their skills in the fields of coding, electronics, technical knowledge, and design. It offers a diverse range of competitions aimed at fostering innovation, teamwork, and technical prowess. This year’s edition of Technexus attracted 154 participants from various Engineering colleges, making it a highly anticipated event in the academic calendar.
The event consisted of four core competitions:
1.Codeathon, 2.Circuit Debugging, 3.Technical Quiz, 4.Poster Design.
The winners received cash prizes, and the event was a resounding success, fulfilling its goal of inspiring the curiosity of young, innovative minds.
