Industrial Visit

The Department of ECE-LICET organized an Industrial Visit for III Year Batch on 25/02/26 to Daikin’s Sri City plant, Mallavaripalem, Andhra Pradesh featuring two factory units producing 4200 Air Conditioner units everyday. They learnt about VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) technology, connecting multiple indoor units to one outdoor unit, explored the Experience Centre’s full product showcase, and toured heat exchanger, sheet metal, electric box assembly lines with BTDA (Benzophenone-tetracarboxylic-di-anhydride) oil and zinc sulphate corrosion protection. The finished units then undergo 1000V testing before packing. The students had a real-world practical exposure to the manufacturing sector through this visit.

An industrial visit to Space Zone India, Thaiyur, Chennai was organised for the I and II year students on 27/02/26 by the Department of ECE (LICET). The company has successfully launched its RHUMI Series of small rockets. The visit included practical exposure to students in the Aero-dynamics, Rocket and Satellite system labs and drone demonstration at their facility. The visit has showcased the role of electronics in aerospace engineering.

The II Year students of the Department of ECE (LICET) visited TIDC (Tube Investments of India Limited) on 05/03/26. High priority is given to the safety protocols to be followed within the plant. The students had a practical exposure to how factory automation / Programmable Logic Control enables manufacturing of finished / lubricated chains from raw steel bars. Finally, the students witnessed the way quality checks such as tensile, fatigue, and dimensional testing are performed to ensure the chain meets Industrial Standards.

An industrial visit to Daimler Truck, Chennai was organized on 18/03/26 for III year students of the Department of ECE-LICET. The facility, spread across 400 acres, showcased advanced infrastructure and well-organized operations. Insights into automotive electronics, including communication protocols such as CAN and LIN were provided, along with various ECUs through practical demonstrations. The visit to the assembly and production lines offered a clear understanding of real-time vehicle manufacturing processes. The visit also emphasized on Daimler’s achievement towards Sustainability of 100% carbon neutrality in Scope 2 emissions.

The Department of ECE – LICET organized an Industrial Visit for the III Year students to the National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL), Tirupati on 09/01/26. The students were exposed to advanced atmospheric observation and communication technologies, including Radiosound Balloon Systems that transmit RF signals up to 30–35 km altitude to measure atmospheric parameters and a High Performance Computing Facility that processes nearly 3 TB of data per day for Numerical Weather Prediction and weather forecasting. The students also visited the communication center that supports software systems, networking, and cybersecurity operations. They witnessed advanced remote sensing instruments such as Rayleigh Doppler LIDAR that was operating live for wind velocity and temperature measurement, along with the Active Array MST Radar comprising a 32×32 Yagi-Uda antenna array with Zynq-7000 FPGA-based transmitter and receiver modules. The visit for sure oriented the students towards core opportunities.

The Department of ECE-LICET organized an Industrial visit to Sumeet Urban Services (Chennai) Pvt. Ltd (Urbaser Sumeet) on 17/09/25. The organization primarily focuses on the collection and transportation of solid waste in seven zones of the Chennai City Corporation. With over 20 years of experience, Urbaser operates in around 19 countries across the globe. The venture utilizes electric vehicles equipped with RFID tags to monitor vehicle entry and exit, ensuring efficient and transparent waste management operations. The students were keen and observant during the visit.

The Department of ECE (LICET) organized an Industrial Visit for the 2nd year students to LOTTE INDIA Corporation Ltd, Poonamallee-Thiruvallur Road, Chennai on 08/09/2025. The company holds a prime position in the confectionery space with strong brands like Coffy Bite, Caramilk, Lacto King and Lotte Eclairs. The factory visit revealed how embedded systems and industrial electronics work together to ensure precision in mass production. Students could visualize the integration of electronics, sensors, actuators, and communication modules through the conveyors and automated packaging systems of the factory.

The Department of ECE (LICET) organized an Industrial Visit for the Batch 2023 – 27 students to ISRO, Sriharikota on 26/08/25. The visit to Satish Dhawan Space Centre – SHAR (SDSC) was a truly eye-opening experience. The students learnt about the functioning of launch pads with umbilical towers, lightning protection systems, and jet deflectors, along with insights into fuel systems (solid, liquid, cryogenic) and payload integration at the Mission Control Centre (MCC). They came to know about Gaganyaan – India’s first human spaceflight mission, marking a historic step towards sending Indians into space. It was an inspiring day for the students that showcased the engineering marvels behind every successful launch.

The Final year student batch of the Department of ECE (LICET) visited the Madupatty Tea Factory, Munnar on 04/04/25. The students observed the 10 stages in the transformation of tea leaves from our mother nature into a commercial product. The visit enlightened the Entrepreneurial spirit of the Students by showcasing how this product reaches crores of customers in India and abroad countries.

On 14th March 2025, the Third year students of Department of ECE (LICET) visited the NARL-National Atmospheric Research Laboratory located in Andhra Pradesh. During the industrial visit, students visited their High performance computation lab and Software development lab. They learnt about the MST Radar, Radiosonde and Antenna Array with TR modules. The visit emphasized the importance of Electronics engineers in Atmospheric Research.

The first year batch of the Department of ECE visited Urbaser Sumeet on 18/12/24. Urbaser Sumeet is a well developed company in sustainable waste management. The visit provided an insightful experience into their processes, advanced technology and innovative vehicles used for waste collection and disposal.

The second year students of the Department of ECE (LICET) visited the open day organized by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research on 26/09/24. They had the opportunity to explore all the Laboratories of the facility inclusive of Embedded and IoT Lab in which most of the students wish to implement projects. The students felt that the visit has exposed to them that Electronics plays a vital role in Industries.

The IV year students of ECE visited ISRO, Bengaluru on 28/10/24. They had an interactive session with scientists on satellite manufacturing, rocketry, and space missions. Insights into Clean Room Technology and its applications and a tour of the ISRO Gallery, showcasing historic achievements and milestones.

The II year students visited Tamilnadu Co-operative milk producers federation LTD in May 2024.

The III year students visited Rax-Tech International at Medavakkam in February 2024.

I ECE students of LICET visited Urbaser Sumeet, a waste management company at Alandur, Chennai on 17th May 2024. 59 students and 2 Faculty members visited the place, which gave insight not only in the technical domain but also on social responsibility.

  • The IV year students visited U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) at Bengaluru during the odd semester of AY 2023-24.
  • The industrial visit by the second-year student batch of the Department of ECE to FORGE, SIPCOT Industrial Innovation Centre (FORT), Mambakkam on 17/10/2023 included sessions on various equipment and machinery. The visit covered topics such as 3D printing, Ender S1 Pro printing, CO2 laser cutting machines, MSO, DSO, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Pneumatic controllers, and Data Acquisition systems. The organization has all the necessary facilities to turn innovative ideas into end products.
  • The first year students belonging to the Department of ECE visited RETECH Solutions PVT LTD, Chennai on 26/10/2023. The students were very much involved when the technical team gave a live demonstration of the LASER engraving and cutting machine. The Organization thrives by building self-sustainable startups working on electro-mechanical systems.

INDUSTRY ACADEMIA CONCLAVE

EVEN 25-26

The Department of ECE (LICET) organized the Industry-Academia Conclave 2026  on 13/03/26.  The panel discussion was on, “Emerging Technologies and Sustainable Indigenization: Redefining the Role of Electronics Engineers”. The students were curious about the challenges that would be faced by start-ups, crooked twists in the career paths of the panelists, future of the semiconductor Industry and the critical role played by one’s attitude, & communication skills. The influence of AI, IoT, and edge computing on modern electronic systems was highlighted and the role of UX/CX (User Experience and Customer Experience) in designing user-centric products for real user problems was emphasized. It was an interactive session and the panelists appreciated the students for their inquisitive queries.

ODD 25-26

A panel discussion on, “Future Ready Mind: Thriving in the New Era”, during the Industry Academia Conclave 2025 conducted on 10/10/25 organized by Department of ECE (LICET) was held among experts from various Industry domains. The panelists insisted on developing passion for learning in core and beyond core discipline, ideating solutions based on customer’s perspective for a successful start-up, impact of technology on medical diagnostics, being aware of digital threats and becoming proficient in technical knowledge by adopting interdisciplinary approaches, networking abilities, and problem-solving mindsets. The event aided in reinforcing the bridge between academia and industry.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (LICET) conducted the Industry – Academia Conclave 2025, centered around the theme “Invent, Connect, Advance: Empowering Electronics Engineers for the Future” on 21/03/25.The Panelist emphasized the importance of mastering fundamental engineering concepts and outlined potential career paths, such as Silicon and Product Design Engineer. They highlighted the significance of an interdisciplinary approach and presented on the emerging field of software defined vehicles. The event concluded on a high note, reinforcing LICET’s commitment to fostering Industry collaboration and Academic Excellence.

ODD 24-25

The Department of ECE – LICET organized the Industry-Academia Conclave on The Role of Digital Transformation: Meeting The Challenges of Industry 4.0 on 4/11/24. The panelists discussed about evolution of wireless networks from 1G to 5G, switches, routers and about the Government schemes – Uchhatar Avishkar Yojana and about the National Council for Cooperative Training. Awareness was created on the latest inclination towards low-code / no-code methods in the IT industry and job opportunities in the Electronic System Design & Manufacturing, and Electronics Manufacturing Services.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with IETE Students Forum and IEEE Student Branch – LICET is organizing Industry Academia Conclave 2024 entitled, “Fostering Synergy of technologies: Integrating Academy with Industry Innovation” on March 26th, 2024 in F11 between 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon. This conclave aims to shape up the students into future ready engineers and entrepreneurs by updating them with current trends, technologies and innovations adopted by the industry.
